On our first date, John shared that after retiring from over 32 years in law enforcement, his dream was to buy a sailboat and cruise the world in search of warmer waters and fresh coconuts. Having done some traveling after college, I (Tess) was no stranger to the thrill of discovering new places. His plan sounded like the perfect adventure, and I was all in.
John had experience from previous charters in the BVI. Tess grew up water skiing/boating and was private pilot. After a couple more BVI charters we became US Sailing Certified in 2014. After a final charter from St. Lucia to Grenada in 2017, we decided to purchase our own boat. we decided it was time to buy our own boat. We put down the deposit in March 2018, and by May of 2019, we had commissioned her. Over the next three years, we outfitted and upgraded the boat to suit our needs and dreams. Finally, on July 15, 2022, we set sail full-time.
Have you met Bella? If you’ve been on a dock with us, chances are she’s stopped by to say hello. She absolutely LOVES life on the boat and has no fear of the water. When the heat of the day fades, you’ll find her cruising the deck, keeping an eye on the birds, fish, and flying insects. Now in her golden years, Bella can’t imagine a better place to be than by her HUMANS’ side!
We’re fortunate to have amazing travel support from our families. Between us, we have six adult children, and we’re both lucky that our parents are able to witness and share in our adventures.
