“Depression 1” is now called tropical storm Javier and we have been getting rain and wind since 0415. Does anything bad ever happen during daylight hours? Anchor is holding well, no other boats have dragged but we have another day of wind and rain to go. Put our starlink on the cockpit sole (floor for you landlubbers) so hopefully we will have internet today. The first picture below is Javier right now and the second picture is the storm that is supposed to hit on Wednesday. We are the white dot.

Well, this is now the next morning and two of the six weather models show the next hurricane hitting the northern end of the Sea of Cortez so we decided rather than run for it only to possibly get hit anyway, we will stay here in Puerto Escondido. But we’ve moved into the marina. They have a very high tech and new marina floating dock/anchoring system and a lot of people that we know who have actually been through this before have said we cannot find a better place than where we are. So here we sit. As I write this in the dark cockpit it is still 90° and 90% humidity. Theresa is wondering what she might give up in order to install air conditioning and the necessary gen set!

In the interim, we did four loads of laundry, hung out in the pool for a couple of hours, enjoyed the bar, had a lovely pizza lunch and excellent dinner with a view. We have a couple of days to kill before the next hurricane but we have the boat fully secured to the dock, doubled lines and even the solar panels are strapped down.

The moth below wanted to ride out the tropical storm with us but my wife said “@#$&!! NO!!”
