We went to Bahia La Salina on Isla Carmen, a large bay with ruins of a large salt harvesting operation that was here for over 200 years until 1982. Flew the drone and got some great pics but we ultimately fled in terror as Theresa was eaten alive by the no-see-ums, known here as jejenes. Four days later she is still dealing with over 100 red, itchy welts.

Spent two days at Isla Los Coronados, a beautiful spot with layers of red lava cascading down to the sandy beach. A couple of super yacht tenders made 50 trips a day to the beach taking their passengers, toys and food so a bit rockier than it should have been. Saw a mahi-mahi jump out of the water five or six times chasing a smaller fish! Moved to Punta Mangles on Baja proper where there were the ruins of what appeared to have been a large restaurant and a couple of homes. Yesterday the swell started coming in so we moved up here to Ramada Cove, about 10 miles. Very protected small bay with a white sand beach and a few nice homes on the other side. We walked over there this morning as part of our SUP work out. This spot should be very well protected from Tropical Storm Madeline which is going to hit south of us. Don’t think we’ll get more than a bit of rain and a little bit of wind but we had a cloudy day today as the first bands reached us. Have run out of fresh fish, vodka and most green vegetables…
We spent the next four days at Ramada Cove, half of that hiding from the remnants of tropical storm Madeline, which wasn’t much more than big swell. Friends we met in the marina, who also have a Bavaria, stumbled upon us and we’ve been buddy boating the last few days. They walked us through a bug ridden arroyo to see some ancient petroglyphs. Not sure how those caveman could possibly have handled the bugs but maybe they had more body hair.
Snorkeled today at Punta Pulpito. The visibility was not great but we saw a free swimming moray, several large turtles and lots of very large tropical fish. Much larger angels, wrasse, parrot fish and trigger fish than I have ever seen. Also had an incredible cave that we could actually take the dinghy through!
